Empty Without - Arianna Miranda Tapia

A poem of a daughter to her Holy Father

I bear the remnants of the fraction I was before him,

Never was I whole, just empty instead,

Filling up my mind,

A broken cup,

Spilling out the lines,

Pouring forth frustration, manipulation, outrage.

Emotional thoughts spiral out of nowhere,

I run to nowhere,

His nature instead is the sun grazing my skin,

Like the air filling my lungs,

I skim along the surface,

Gliding on the water,

Soft touches of warmth surrounding me.

Am I blessed?

He carries me forward without a touch,

His words lift me with a gentle hold.

In his presence, I finally feel whole.

Arianna Miranda Tapia is currently a junior at Fresno State. Throughout her journey, she writes about the experiences that have shaped her and inspired change, all while reflecting on her faith in Jesus. Arianna hopes to continue writing and, one day, publish her work.
